It Has Nothing to Do with Age: Tevis Cup 2014

It Has Nothing To Do With Age provides self-help principles. The inspirational stories give concrete illustrations of overcoming many of life's challenges. Difficulties pertaining to depression, grief, divorce, and death are presented and worked through by the participants. Physical impairments, injuries, overcoming issues with weight, alcohol, and nicotine are also dealt with and resolved by the athletes.

This book provides a model on how to overcome some of the difficulties that confront all of us . Further, this read sheds a beacon of light on preventive measures for good physical and mental health. Research demonstrates that exercise is an important component in treating such ailments and debilitating illness such as depression, stroke, heart disease, brain or cognitive malfunction,and Alzheimer's disease.

I suggest that proper exercise can be used as a preventive measure for psychological, cognitive, and physical health as well. Follow my prescription and lead a better, more fulfilling, and healthier life.

Tevis Cup 2014

Yesterday, Linda and I drove up to Robinson Flat to greet the 2014 Tevis Cup riders. Robinson Flat is roughly the first 36 miles of this one-day hundred mile equestrian event. All in all were also happy to see Yam and Ilan Dvir ranchers from Israel. They were riding mounts provided by Michel Bloch. When it was all said and done, competitive, Tom Johnson came in third place minutes behind the winner Heather Bergantz Reynolds. And for the first time in the illustrious history of the Tevis, two buckles were awarded to the two Israelis.

Congratulations go to all 107 finishers of the 186 starters. This is an historic event and more information is provided in my book “It Has Nothing To Do With Age.”

About Frank

Dr. Frank Lieberman is an author, psychologist, professional speaker, health and fitness coach and ultra runner. In his book “It Has Nothing to Do with Age,” he interviewed seven mature athletes and provided insight into the drives and motives of these older athletes. His experience in three one day 100 mile events gives additional credence in examining “why” these athletes do what they do. He not only talks the talk but walks the walk.

Frank has completed in endurance riding and buckled in the historic Tevis Cup in 2000 at the age of 60. At the age of 62 in 2002, he not only completed the prestigious Western States 100 mile run, but was an age group division winner as well. In 2008, at the age of 68, Frank and his partner Jonathan Jordan won the 100 mile Swanton Pacific Ride and Tie.

Frank’s book details other ultra sports that include: the Dipsea (America’s oldest running foot race), the Hawaiian Ironman, national and international rowing and the Molokai to Oahu Outrigger canoe race.
